Roof-mounted solar on a house is permitted development across Scotland, including Dundee, provided the panels project no more than one metre and the building isn't listed. Conservation areas carry extra conditions, so we check your address against Dundee City Council's conservation-area maps before quoting and prepare any drawings needed. Your install is also notified to the local network operator as part of the job.
There is no Home Energy Scotland grant or loan for solar PV. It was withdrawn on 6 June 2024. What Dundee homeowners do get is 0% VAT on the whole installation until 31 March 2027, Smart Export Guarantee payments of 15 to 25p a unit for exported power, and for eligible households ECO4 support until the end of 2026.
